The building was damaged in 1566 by Turkish incursions and has undergone various modifications over the centuries. The bell tower dates back to the 1700s. In the San Giacomo district, we find the CHIESA DI SAN GIACOMO which took its name, according to a popular belief, from the finding of a painting of the Apostle Saint James the Greater in the place where the church currently stands.
